  2. WARM-UP • PULL OUT YOUR INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOK. • NUMBER EVERY PAGE FRONT AND BACK • Left side on upper left hand corner • Right side on upper right hand corner • Get as far as you can. What you do not finish is for homework.

  4. OUTSIDE FRONT COVER At home, decorate your cover to reflect your personality. You may use photos, stickers, bumper stickers, personal artwork, quotes, magazine clippings, markers, etc. No gang style writing No inappropriate decorations No 3D objects – they’ll get smashed Due by Friday Graded on effort

  5. INSIDE FRONT COVER Attach the Interactive Notebook Rules handout to the inside front cover

  6. INSIDE BACK COVER Attach the Interactive Student Notebook Rubric to the inside back cover

PAGE 1 TITLE PAGE • Make pg.1 your Title Page by writing NEATLY the following : • First Name and Last Name • Interactive Notebook • Period ______ • English 1 or English 3 (write the name of the class you are enrolled in) • Mrs. Kelly • You may decorate a border around the above information. (optional) • I recommend you use colored pencils. Markers will bleed through paper.

  8. Page 2 TABLE OF CONTENTS • Make Table of Contents on pg. 2 • On top line write TABLE OF CONTENTS • On 2nd line write: DatePage TitlePage Number • On pg. 3 Repeat above directions • On pg. 4 Repeat above directions • On pg. 5 Repeat above directions

  9. Page 6 Academic Vocabulary On the top line of pg. 6, write Academic Vocabulary On this page you will keep a running list of academic/content vocabulary and a short definition. This will act as a quick reference for you when needed. You may also want to include the page number where the more complete definition and example can be found This will cover pages 6-12. Leave these pages blank until you need them. You may not need all of these pages.

Pages 13-17 • Glue Student Expectations to pg. 13 • Glue your two-page Syllabus to pgs. 14 and 15 • Glue Cornell Notes/Writing Rubrics to pg. 16 • Attach your Cornell Notes of Classroom Routines and Procedures from Thursday and Friday. • You may tape them across the top or along the side or staple them to the paper because you will want to be able to see the back side. • Complete a summary of these notes. • Don’t forget to number the pages again over the handouts and add the pages to your Table of Contents.

  12. Social Contract What are your top 3 traitsthat describe a good student? What are your top 3 traits that describe a good teacher? What are the top 3 things that you need from me so that you can perform your best and have a safe learning environment? What are the top 3 things you need from the students in this class so that you can perform your best and have a safe learning environment? Write these on three sticky notes that we will paste to our classroom social contract.
