  2. How to find a case if you know the parties.

  3. Select the database

  4. Click here

  5. Click on L

  6. Select LEXIS/NEXIS

  7. If you have the name of a case, type in the parties

  8. Click to retrieve the case

  9. Print or email the case Citations Read the case

  10. The case sent as plain text file

  11. If you are looking for a case but are not sure of the names of the parties or how they will appear

  12. Click on Legal Research

  13. Select the Appropriate jurisdiction

  14. Click on the Appropriate state

  15. Type in the names. Use this format Name Pre/# name Lorenzana pre/5 Superior This finds Lorenzana within 5 words of Superior in this order if you want one name before the other. If you are not sure of the order, then Use “with” Name w/# name Lorenzana w/5 superior Finds Lorenzana within 5 words In any order Change the date box appropriately

  16. These are not the Lorenzana case but Probably cite to it. Look at the case.

  17. Use the find feature to look for the name of the case

  18. Click on the Edit button And click on Find

  19. Type in a keyword

  20. Here is case and its citation

  21. One can now go to the Basic Legal Research Page and search by citation, 9 Cal. 3d 626

  22. Type in the citation and change the button Type in the citation

  23. Now the right case has been retrieved

  24. Note this is the case

  25. If you have a citation to begin with, then just use the Find a Case from either the initial page or the Legal Research page.

  26. For example, you want to find Mapp vs. Ohio and your not sure of the name but you do have the citation: 367 U.S. 643 Here is the quick search page and the cite Typed in
