Siege weapons • Ballista- Made from wood, ropes were attached to each arm were the springs of the Ballista, ropes were twisted strands of human hair or animal sinew, when fired the ropes twisted by a winch .. • Mangonel- Means “ Engine of War ”, could fire up to 1300 feet, launched missiles from a bucket like structure, some items inside the missiles were stones, burning sand, fire, burning tar, and body parts.
