Policy Change

  • August 2009: The Planning Commission added the Walkability Amendment to the Comprehensive Plan.

  • September 2009: Council adopted a Complete Streets Policy.

  • October 2010: Council amended the sidewalk assessment ordinance to reflect a 50/50 split between the property owner and the City of Albert Lea.

  • November 2010: Council authorizes first ever bike lane

  • December 2012: City Hall grounds declared tobacco free as of January 1, 2013

The Front Street bike lanes are about 1.5 miles long and connects to Blazing Star Bike Trail
