  2. Objectives Overall objective To improve French beans production and safety using botanicals and insect traps in management of thrips and other pests. Specific objectives • 1. To determine the effect of botanicals in management of thrips and other pests in French beans. • 2. To determine effectiveness of using traps of different colours in management thrips and other pests in French beans. • 3. To determine the amount of chemical residues in the French beans sold in the local markets.

Materials and Methods 1.Experiment site: Kabete Field Station • To determine the effect of using four different botanicals prepared, one commercial botanical and decis as positive control in management of thrips and other pests in French beans.Treatments; Tithonia, Tephrosia, Tagetes,Spider plant, Nimbecidine, decis and control. 2. Experiment two • To determine the effectiveness of coloured insect traps in management of thrips and other insect pests in French beans. Treatments: Blue, Yellow and White insect traps. • 3. Experiment on analysis of chemical residual of French bean from the experiment and some from the market.
