    1. Open the asc_bleed dataset

    2. Select Create Query using Active Data from the Task List

    3. Click on the tab Select and Sort

    4. Click Select All on the bottom right, then uncheck the box to the left of asc_bleed.AGE, then double click on asc_bleed.AGE

    5. Selection of the column AGE

    6. Click Preview Results to see the data

    7. Click New to create a new column; type in age10 under alias to name the new column; then click on Change…

    8. Type age in the Expression builder, click the / sign, then click OK, and OK again from the New screen

    9. The Preview screen should show the new column

    10. Click New again, type log age as the alias, click change, type in log(age) in the Expression builder, the click OK, and OK on the new screen

    11. Go to New, type age_cad as the alias, to to Expression Builder, click Values, click age and click Insert, the click CAD and click Insert

    12. The AGE_CAD column is now added

    13. Name a new column called avgage, click on Aggregate under functions, then click on Age{All} and hit Insert

    14. Clink numValue ; then click Values, Age, and Insert

    15. Preview contains the average age

    16. Remove the preview and run the query to get a new dataset

    17. Open Create Query using Active Data, go to Select and Sort, click age, click Properties, type agegroup as the alias, and click Replace Values

    18. Click the … under Replace, one by one select 18, 23, 27, and 28, Replace with 1, and click Add to list

    19. Click Replace a range of values, type 30 as a lower limit, 64 as an upper limit, Replace with 2, and click Add to list

    20. Select New Value from the Replace all other with drop down menu, type 3 in the adjacent box, and click OK

    21. When run the query has replaced the columns with the recoded values
