  3. The Cell Theory • All organisms are made up of one or more cells. • The cell is the basic unit of organization of all organisms. • All cells come from other cells all ready in existence.

  4. Eukaryotic Cell Organelles • Nucleus- the brains of the cell • Controls metabolism and reproduction • Largest organelle – if removed cell dies • Nucleolus – ribosomes are assembled • Contains DNA- deoxyribonucleic acid • hereditary information.

  7. Cell Division • All living cells come from other living cells. • During mitosis, the nucleus of the cell divides, forming two nuclei with identical genetic information.

  8. Stages of Mitosis • Mitosis produces two genetically identical cells. • Mitosis is referred to in the following stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase.
