International Center for Integrated Water Resource Management (ICIWaRM) • Hosted by USACE Institute of Water Resources (IWR), already up and running • Nominated by U.S. Government as a global water center within the umbrella of the United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO) International Hydrologic Program (IHP). • Nomination endorsed by IHP governing council July ’08, awaiting final approval by General Conference and Director General • ICIWaRM is a "distributed” center, reflecting an intergovernmental partnership between Corps and other Federal agencies, academia, professional societies & NGO's • Key core partners include Univ of Arizona, Oregon State Univ, Colorado State Univ, and Florida International Univ, along with ASCE, AWRA, The Nature Conservancy. Other institutions and organization likely to join as program grows

International Center for Integrated Water Resources Management (ICIWaRM) • The mission of ICIWaRM is: “The advancement of the science and practice of integrated water resources management (IWRM) to address water security and other water-related challenges by regional and global action, through new knowledge, innovative technologies, collaborative interdisciplinary scientific research, networking, training and capacity development, within the framework of UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme (IHP)”. • A priority focus of ICIWaRM is on partnering and working with other UNESCO-IHP centers to advance US Government objectives in assisting nations in Latin America & the Caribbean, Africa and Asia.

ICIWaRM - Program Goals IWRM Practice BMP’s Contribute to the development & advocacy of IWRM principles and best management practices, focusing on institutional, engineering, planning and evaluation issues. Undertake capacity-development focusing on training for implementing IWRM at both watershed and national levels, particularly in Latin America, Africa & Asia, working closely in collaboration among UNESCO centers towards joint problem-solving. ICIWaRM: International Center for Integrated Water Resources Management Capacity Development Foster research, tech development and technology transfer of models and methods that enhance IWRM . Water Science Water Education Technology Transfer
