  11. IMPORTANT DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED BY LAW! Passport and Study Permit (Certified copy) ID Document (Certified copy) If we don’t receive this information from you, we will not be able to print your certificate! Please submit this documentation to your HOD in the 2nd week of lectures.

  12. ATTENDANCE Your part-time studies will be a challenge for you because you are working during the day, and have current personal commitments outside of working hours. It is critical that you attend all your scheduled lectures to ensure you successfully complete the SLP. You will be required to sign an attendance register each week, and your final report will reflect an overall attendance percentage. If you do miss a lecture for a valid reason (work, sickness), and you submit valid evidence of this, we will be able to condone this.

  13. ASSESSMENT INFORMATION – CASS MARK • In order for you to qualify to write the final exam, you need to have a weighted average of 40% for your formative assessments (tests and assignments). • In the example above, the CASS mark is 40% • (70 x 0.1) + (30 x 0.3) = 16 = 16/40 = 40% • This was calculated by averaging the weight of the assessment • When there is only 1 formative assessment, you must attempt this in order to qualify to write the final exam • When there is no formative assessment, you will gain automatic entry to the final exam

  14. ASSESSMENT INFORMATION – EXAM SUBMINIMUM AND SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMS • The exam subminimum is 30% • If you receive more than 30% in your final exam, but less than 50% overall, you will qualify to write the supplementary exam • If you receive less than 30% in your final exam, you will fail the SLP/module, irrespective of the CASS mark, and will not qualify to write the supplementary exam • Supplementary exams are usually written within 4 weeks of your final exam – your pacer will include the date of this exam • The cost of a supplementary exam is R520

  15. ASSESSMENT INFORMATION – ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION • Ensure you knowyour submission dates – these are included in your pacer • Assignments must be handed in at reception • The School of Business and Technology assignment sheet must be attached to your assignment • Make a copy of your assignment before you submit it • Keep the submission slip you receive when you submit your assignment • Ensure you reference correctly and that you don’t plagiarise

  16. ASSESSMENT INFORMATION – MISSED ASSESSMENTS • If you missed a test because you were sick or if an immediate family member passed away, you can apply to write the aegrotat test (please refer to the APG for detailed terms and conditions) • If you miss a test for any other reasons, you can apply to have your test re-weighted (please refer to the APG for detailed terms and conditions) • If you miss a final exam, you can apply to write the supplementary exam or to defer the exam to the next offer (please refer to the APG for detailed terms and conditions) • The terms and conditions must be met in order for any further assessment opportunities to be awarded

  17. ASSESSMENT INFORMATION – RESULTS AND CERTIFICATES • Results are not released telephonically • You will receive your marked tests and assignments back in class before the final exam • Your final exam results will be available within 2 weeks of you writing the assessment • You will be posted a report that shows a breakdown of your assessments and results • Your certificate and final report will be available for collection within 4 weeks of the final exam being written • Your certificate needs to be collected from the campus – unfortunately this cannot be posted to you
