  • Unwinding is a legal process of taking teens ages 13-18 and harvesting them for their body parts. Unwinding is done with the consent of the parents, and not always the consent of the child.

Favorite character l.jpg

Favorite Character to Mexico when he was 16. He has written 25 different books, and Unwind is his 24

My favorite character in this book would have to be Connor. In the beginning of the book, he was very aggressive and selfish. Towards the end of the book, he stopped getting in fights all the time and he started caring about other people more.

Least favorite character l.jpg

Least Favorite Character to Mexico when he was 16. He has written 25 different books, and Unwind is his 24

My Least Favorite Character in this book is Cleaver. He was supposed to help all of the Unwinds, but instead he secretly wanted them to turn against each other and cause chaos. He helps two other creepy kids murder 5 people, which gives him an evil rating of 4157 out of 10.

This is Cleaver. He is a creep.

Exposition l.jpg

Exposition     to Mexico when he was 16. He has written 25 different books, and Unwind is his 24

In the Exposition, we learn a little bit about the lives of the Connor, Risa, and Lev. We learn where they live, what their families are like, and a little bit about each of their personalities. We also learn that they are all going to be unwound.

Rising action l.jpg

Rising Action to Mexico when he was 16. He has written 25 different books, and Unwind is his 24

The rising action in the story is basically following the Connor, Risa, and Lev as they try to find ways to avoid being unwound. They need to change their appearance and try to find safe places where they can hide. They are helped by a woman named Sofia, who sends them to a runaway Unwind community where they can be safe.

Climax l.jpg

Climax to Mexico when he was 16. He has written 25 different books, and Unwind is his 24

The climax of the story is when Connor, Risa, and Lev are captured and taken to a harvest camp, because Roland was a jerk and decided to tell the police who they were.

Falling action l.jpg

Falling Action to Mexico when he was 16. He has written 25 different books, and Unwind is his 24

Connor, Risa, and Lev manage to escape the harvest camp during a terrorist attack. They get away without being unwound, and due to some injuries they got during the bombing, they could never be unwound.

Resolution l.jpg

Resolution to Mexico when he was 16. He has written 25 different books, and Unwind is his 24

Connor and Risa live the rest of their lives helping runaway Unwinds, while Lev is put into a cell because he was involved in the terrorist attack at the harvest camp. All three of them helped by creating hope for a future without Unwinding.

Setting l.jpg

What else can be donated l.jpg
What else can be donated? to Mexico when he was 16. He has written 25 different books, and Unwind is his 24

Vital organs aren’t the only thing that can be donated and transplanted..you can also donate:

  • Eyes/Corneas

  • Bone marrow

  • Ligaments

  • Tissues/Skin

  • Tendons

“I could donate tissue, I just need to go buy some Kleenex.”

-Cayla Vienna Egbert

Wrong kind of tissue…

But zach why is donating organs an issue l.jpg
But Zach, why is donating organs an issue? to Mexico when he was 16. He has written 25 different books, and Unwind is his 24

  • There are a few problems when dealing with organ donations:

    • Demand exceeds Supply

    • Rejection of organs in patients’ bodies

Supply and demand l.jpg

There are way too many people who need organ transplants but there aren’t enough donors.

According to the Mayo Clinic Staff, there are about 100,000 people on the waiting list for an organ donation.

There is an estimated 1 million people who also need transplants, but these transplants are much less serious. I.e. eyes, skin, and ligaments.

Supply and Demand

  • If the patients on the waiting list don’t get the vital organs that they need, they will most likely die

  • Approx. 18 people die every day while waiting for an organ transplant.

Rejection l.jpg
Rejectionhttp://blog.american.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/kidney1.jpg

  • Sometimes when an organ is transplanted into a patient’s body, the patient’s natural immune system might reject the donated organ.

  • This may be caused by differences in blood type, the patient’s age, and the patient’s overall health.

  • If the patient has had a previous transplant, the chances for rejection are increased.
