RANKINGS Important tasks: 1) Goals of evaluation - science, incoming students (education) Weight of indices - publications Collection of correct data - quality and quantity Presentation of the results Differences: large vs. small institutions pure science vs. science-learing peer-review vs. data based on IF publications differences of IF between specialties (weighted mean) etc.

RANKINGS THES, Academic Ranking of World Universities Problems: - bibliometry - reduction of university tasks only to research publications - reduction to quantitative measures - results related to the whole institution and not to one academician - standardization of different faculties within university (medicine, natural sciences, humanities)

  4. Charles University today • 17 Faculties • 7.500 Employees (4.300 Academic) • 143 Bc and Masters Programmes • 119 PhD Programmes • 50.000 Students (10.600 Bachelors, 32.000 Magisters, 7.300 PhD Students, 6.000 Foreign Students, 1780 in the whole English Curriculum)
