  1. Miss Miller’s Class Kindergarten – Grade 2

  2. All About Me • I received my BS in Special Education from West Chester University in 2002. • I received my M.Ed in Special Education from Grand Canyon University in 2009. • Currently pursuing Board Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis through Rowan University. • I have been teaching since 2002, and have been in Bellmawr School District since 2006.

  3. Our Class • This year we have 5 students in our class. • We are lucky to have Miss Scala and Mr. Geyer as our classroom paraprofessionals.

  4. My goals • To give your child the academic and life skills they need to be successful, inside and outside of our classroom. • To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment.

  5. Classroom Subjects • Everyday we will have individual and/or small group instruction in: • Language Arts Literacy (Edmark Reading Program) • Oral Language (SRA Language for Learning Program) • Math • Handwriting (Handwriting Without Tears Program) • Social Skills • We will join our inclusion partner class for Computers, Library, Music, Art and Gym.

  6. Related Services • All of the students receive different related services, as per their IEPs. • These include: • Speech Therapy through the CST • Occupational Therapy through Rehab Connections • Physical Therapy through Rehab Connections • Counseling Services through the CST • Behavioral Services through Interactive Kids

  7. Correspondence • Please check your child’s CLOWN Binder each night. Feel free to write me a note on your child’s daily behavior log. • For students who receive Related Services, please make sure to check their notebooks for communication with therapists.

  8. Homework • Homework packets will be sent home each Monday, and are due the following Monday. They will contain: • Class newsletter • Breakfast order form • 100 Book Challenge Log • Skill review worksheets to complete with your child.

  9. 100 Book Challenge • Books will come home on Mondays. Please keep the bag at home for 1 week and return the following Monday. • Please write down all of the titles you read in each 15 minute “step.” • It is okay to read books more than 1 time. This promotes fluency and helps with comprehension. • The students will receive medals for every 100 steps they reach. • Please make sure to read with your child EVERY NIGHT!

  10. Snack and Breakfast • Snack-time is part of the kindergarten program, so even if your child is not in K, please pack a healthy snack each day, since we align with a Kindergarten schedule. • Breakfast is available in the classroom every day. If you qualify for free/reduced lunch, you are entitled to this for breakfast as well. FORMS MUST BE RECEIVED BY WEDNESDAY OF THE PREVIOUS WEEK.
