  1. Instructional e-material design for teacher e-training:The case of electromagnetism Vassilis Koulountzos Giorgos Primerakis Fanny Seroglou School of Primary Education Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece

  2. instructional e-material design instructional material videos with experiments short films videos with role-plays worksheets incorporated in a web-based learning environment for teacher e-training in science education

  3. the design of the instructional material is based on history of science the development of the instructional material is a SHINE application

  4. SHINE SHINE is an acronym coming from Science, History, INteraction, Education SHINE is an 8 stages research model focusing on the interaction between history of science and science education

  5. cognitive focus to differentiate electrostatic and magnetic attractions to relate electrostatic phenomena and phenomena of the electric current

  6. meta-cognitive focus to relate scientists work in electromagnetism with the social and cultural context in which the theories of electromagnetism were developed

  7. to differentiate electrostatic and magnetic attractions

  8. to relate electrostatic phenomena and phenomena of the electric current Videos current-friction

  9. electromagnetism in its social context

  10. role-play teachers are asked to… watch the short film about Faraday and his work use the information presented in the film to write a scenario about his life and work “play” the scenario with their colleagues in a form of a role-play discuss on the film, their scenario and the performed role-plays

  11. role-play examples
