  1. Cambridge Technicals Unit 12 LO3 Be able to design websites

  2. P4 Website specification You will be designing a website for a technology consultancy who wish to provide clients with useful information about the internet. The client has sent the following: “We would like you to design and create a website containing useful information about the internet, how it functions and its capabilities and hazards. The site needs to be attractive and interactive and be aimed at users who have a limited knowledge of the internet. There needs to a company logo on every page and images, animations, sound and video should be used where appropriate.”

  3. P4 Website specification You are going to use virtually all the material you have developed in the preceding sections of this unit. Go through this material and decide on page titles to for web pages which will display the material. For example, you could have a page explaining ISP’s and web hosting services, with examples of each.

P4 Website specification • Write a plan for your website, detailing: • The type of image the website needs to portray • Whether users need to able to log in to the site • How to make sure the site appears in search engine listings • The amount of maintenance the site is likely to need • The needs of the user (navigation, layout etc.) • A Gantt chart showing the timeline for developing the site • The overall purpose of the site (e-commerce, educational promotional)

  5. M2/P4 Design tools You need to show how your site is structured. This can be done using Inspiration software to create a site map. You will also need detailed page designs for each page in the site, showing the placement of images, text, navigation bars and any other content, such as videos and sound files. For a Merit, you will need to add comments to your page designs explaining why each item has been included and how it adds to the effectiveness of the site.
