  6. 1. Jesus descended into hell This is actually a step up (even though it talks about descending).

  7. 1 Pet 3:18,19 p. 1202 When (did he descend)? Jesus had already left the tomb! Then the angels came and removed the big stone so that women could see he was gone. After becoming alive

  8. Col 2:15 p. 1166 Why? To “preach” to the spirits in hell means to proclaim / announce to them that he had won the victory over sin and hell. s To proclaim his victory over the devil.

  9. 2. Jesus Rose From the Dead Jesus’ descent into hell was invisible to the eyes of his followers. They thought he was still dead. But the angels opened the tomb so they would know what had happened: that Jesus rose from the dead.
