Aquarius Mission Simulation Status • Sab Kim has provided 7 days of simulated radiometer output (DN) with telemetry and associated ephemeris and attitude data. • Fred Patt and Joel Gales developed software to: • Read and unpack Sab’s daily files • Output ephemeris and attitude data files (interim format) • Generate radiometer DPU blocks • Generate ICDS output blocks (*) • Joel developed software to generate Aquarius raw data files as expected from CONAE (multiple copies of memory). (*) Direct use of ICDS software was problematic

To Be Done – Now until Launch • Routine daily generation of Sab’s data. • Use of dynamic reference salinity (already done?) • Use of actual dynamic ancillary files for both simulation and processing. • Clarification and incorporation of instrument telemetry. • Generation of ephemeris and SAC-D telemetry files in CONAE format (once available). • Scatterometer simulation. • Include seasonal variation (solar geometry). • Incorporate instrument characterization test results. • Incorporate noise and error models.

  5. Additional Enhancements • Simulated cold-sky maneuver. • Multiple downlink stations. • ?
