Geared only to assessing a benchmark for unemployed Georgians and counties interested in encouraging a stronger workforce through improving high school graduation rates and increasing the number of students choosing post-secondary education options. • Changes to federal requirements for WIA have demanded action to preserve the program. • Exhaustive effort to steer program benefits to those most • most in need. • Five years of assessing Georgia’s workforce lead to development action. The Governor’s Office of Workforce Development makes workreadyconnect.org available free of charge to individuals and companies that recognize Work Ready as part of their hiring process. Governor’s Office of Workforce Development Two Martin Luther King Jr. Drive 1104 West Tower Atlanta, Georgia 30334 Certified Work Ready Communities • Improve high school graduation rate • Encourage students to participate in post-secondary education • Discourage secondary education absenteeism • Changes effective February 1, 2012 • - Already Certified Work Ready Communities continue with grant allocations awarded, including: financial grants, road signs, local Chamber of Commerce memberships • - Counties NOT Work Ready Certified as of 2/1/12 are eligible to become a CWRC using the three metrics above. Upon achievement, county can receive: road signs and Chamber of Commerce memberships • - Grant packets arrive to team leaders week of 1/30/12 Governor Nathan Deal Executive Director Tricia Pridemore

A separate Education Committee developed the Biotechnology curriculum which was accepted by the DOE. Now over 24 schools are teaching the biotechnology career pathway with over 2500 students enrolled. A separate group, the IC Regional Partnership, consisted of the 13 Chambers of Commerce and economic development entities, which ultimately formed a 501c3 organization to continue to market the IC globally.” Governor Nathan Deal Executive Director Tricia Pridemore

Governor’s Office of Workforce Development Two Martin Luther King Jr. Drive 1104 West Tower Atlanta, Georgia 30334 Objective of Go Build™ Georgia • Through the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development, Go Build Georgia will build a broad coalition of key stakeholder groups to address the availability of craft labor professionals in Georgia over the next generation. • To design and develop a comprehensive recruitment initiative that would have statewide focus to attract new workers into the craft labor careers. • Link unemployed Georgians, students and parents with business stakeholders, secondary counselors, educators and post-secondary education options. • Strong partnership with the Technical College System of Georgia Governor Nathan Deal Executive Director Tricia Pridemore

Governor’s Office of Workforce Development Two Martin Luther King Jr. Drive 1104 West Tower Atlanta, Georgia 30334 Positive Changes within Professional Licensing Boards Division • Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced a plan to streamline the operations at his agency’s Professional Licensing Boards Division (PLB) through more efficient procedures in license application review and code enforcement. • The changes will help the state’s next generation of skilled trade professionals obtain licensure sooner so they can start a job or start a business faster which is very important to the success of Go Build Georgia.
