  2. What’s New in Your Region? • New Blood! Leadership • New project leader for Western IC, in addition to Chattahoochee Tech and UGA • Go for the Gold - Overall region at 14.3% - large counties continue to be challenged • DeKalb at 10.2% brings Regional total down

  3. Gold Initiatives still in place at Atlanta and DeKalb Tech with funding staff to contact certificate holders and those not achieving certificates Fulton – improved 33 certificate levels Clayton – improved 32 certificate levels DeKalb – improved 23 certificate levels

  4. Certified Certified Communities New Team effort in Fulton – meeting March 10th to get more county support Meeting with Chairman Bell in Clayton in February to get county support – Vowed to get Economic Development Director involved Meetings in DeKalb with Chamber Director

  5. Career Pathways AAAS Invited Presentation GSTA presence provided over 570 Person-hours of teacher professional development What’s New in Your Region?

  6. What’s New in Your Region/ Best Practice! Preliminary results indicate students who took high school biotechnology course scored significantly better on the science section of the Georgia High School Graduation Test.

  7. Best Practice from your Region? Use GSTA or GACTE conference to share industry and skill needs Innovation Crescent Regional Partnership (13 county Chambers of Commerce or Economic Development entities) formed LLC and are now moving into working together on other economic development focuses

  8. Issues/Concerns from your Region? Low utilization of gap training in schools Gold WRC levels in large metro counties Private sector WRC numbers
