  2. Needs Assessment: • The instructional/training problem or opportunity • Choosing a appropriate accounting program for the church • ChurchBook/DataBase not being used to it’s full potential

Needs Assessment: • The analysis of the gap between what is available and what should be available • ChurchBook/DataBase is a full accounting software • ChurchBook/DataBase is only being used to enter money coming into the church • ChurchBook/DataBase will help simply the way the accounting is being done

Needs Assessment: • The recommended solution for filling the gap • Create a self-paced web-based training module that has • A Step-by-step guide that shows how to use the accounting portion of the ChurchBook/DataBase • Visual aid done by using a photo story that will show pictures give information about the accounting portion of the software • Some links to the ChurchBook/DataBase website • Access to the manual for more reference if needed

  5. Instructional Goal: After completing this training, the employee will be able to enter checks and debits into the ChurchBook/DataBase. After completing this training, the employee will be able to view and print a check register.

  6. Performance Objectives: After completing this training, learners will be able to: • Objective #1 • Using ChurchBook/DataBase, the employee will enter checks written and debits made to the program with 95% accuracy. • Objective #2 • Using the ChurchBook/DataBase, the employees will do bank reconciliations, with no errors and without assistance. • Objective #3 • Given a bank statement, the employee will be able to cross reference checks and debits using the bank reconciliation in the program.

  7. Assessment of Learning Outcomes:

  8. Learner Characteristics: • Target audience: • The pastor, treasurer, and the bishop warden. • The age range of these individuals is 50 to 62. • The pastor, treasurer, and warden are all fluent in English. • All three employees are computer literate.

Learning Context: • Instructional Setting • The employees will be trained in the office. • The training will be conducted by using the office computer because the ChurcBook/DataBase program is already installed on that computer • All the necessary material needed for the training are in the office.

  10. Instructional Strategies: • Introduction: (a) Overview of ChurchBook/DataBase features and capabilities. (b) Three employees will be knowledgeable in using the ChurchBook/DataBase accounting portion of the system. Using ChurchBook/DataBase, the staff members will enter checks and/or debits into the database with no errors. • Getting started with the program: (a) Show a photo story that has an overview and description of 1. The Main Switchboard options 2. The Checks and Accounts Payable Switchboard options

  11. Instructional Strategies: Entering check or debits into the ChurchBook/DataBase: (a) Give step-by-step instruction on how to 1. Get into the Accounts Payable, Check Writing and Check Entry tab 2. Enter checks or debits into the database 3. View a check register 4. Print the check register

Instructional Strategies: Assessment: (a)Give the trainee a check or debit to enter into the database on their own.(b)The trainee will have to open the program.(c)The trainee will enter into the correct location in which they will correctly enter the check or debit information into the ChurchBook/Database.(d)The trainee will have to view the check register to verify the information was entered correctly.(e)The trainee will print the check register.(f)The trainee will close and backup the program.

  13. Instructional Resources: • The trainee will need the following materials to complete the training module. • Access to the church computer • ChurchBook/DataBase program • Internet access • Pencil or pen • Paper • ChurchMouse/Database manual • Printer

Formative Evaluation: • Subject Matter Expert • The instructor of the course training module will evaluate the design plan. • Small group evaluation • Administering the training program to the three trainees to see how they perform. • A brief introduction to the training module will be presented. • The trainees will be allowed to go through the program without interruption. • The trainees will record any problems, questions, or issues that may arise as they go through the training module. • The trainees will be ask for their thoughts and comments regarding the training module.

  16. Summary The overview of the design plan is to create and easy to follow online training course that will show how to use the ChurchBook/DataBase program’s accounting features. The employee will be given a step-by-step training module to show them how to enter bank drafts, checks written and view check registers.
