  2. Smart Utility Networks (SUN) Common Platform Framework for combining the elements of TG4g PHY proposals Update July 2009 B. Rolfe, et al. BCA

  3. Purpose • Purpose: • The purpose of this effort is support a collaborative process for merging that includes the essential features identified by all proposals, inclusive of all participants, so that the resulting PHY is sufficiently flexible to meet the diverse needs encountered in SUN deployment, while remaining simple enough for low cost implementation. • Satisfy the goal of arriving at a common set of features that satisfy the essential needs identified by all participants in TG4g. B. Rolfe, et al. BCA

  4. Summary • Since May • Included changes and new information from Montreal presentations; • Refined/revised via email reflector and conference calls • What’s changed • Additional data rates • FEC options • Suggested method for TPC • ‘low energy’ features (coordinating with TG4e) • Adapt ‘band agnostic’ approach • Additional information on more bands (Japan, China) B. Rolfe, et al. BCA

  5. References B. Rolfe, et al. BCA

  6. Inclusive of all FSK based proposals • Includes FSK and GFSK • Flexibility to deal with real-world conditions • Based on working deployments from multiple vendors • Considers support for legacy devices B. Rolfe, et al. BCA
