New Diagnostic Test for Lyme disease

Lyme disease is rare but it can be very destructive when it happens. Anyone with Lyme disease symptoms will get medical support and prompt testing from reputed laboratories such as IGenex Lab to find out exactly what causes the symptoms. If it is Lyme disease, it should be on the lookout for signs that linger and carry them to a doctor's attention too.<br>

  1. New Diagnostic Test for Lyme disease

  2. Lyme disease is a disconcerting illness that was first detected in Old Lyme, Connecticut, in a group of people in the 70s. But it wasn't until the 1980s that a particular type of tick, the deer tick, and different bacteria, Borreliaburgdorferisensulato, traced the disease to a bite. Two other species of the same genus of bacteria cause a similar illness in areas of the world other than the United States.

  3. If you experience flu as signs, body aches, and a lack of strength, don't rule out Lyme disease, even if you don't live in the Northeast. Lyme disease was first discovered in 1975 in Lyme, Connecticut but it is one of the fastest-growing infectious diseases. It has now reached Canada from USA where people need to be more informed of what they need to ask for in order to receive the appropriate care.

  4. Lyme disease is most common in the United States' Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South Atlantic, Great Lake, and West Coast areas. Controversy occurs because cases which occur in Canada are not known as Lyme disease. This is shocking since the disease has been diagnosed by American doctors since the 1980's. One would hope Canada is more mindful of that.

  5. Lyme disease is caused by the BurreliaBurgdorferi infection, and is spread to people via the bite of the black legged tick. Ticks receive the bacteria from host species, the white footed mouse in particular, which helps the bacteria to survive. After a detrimental bite the infamous bulls eye rash can appear, but not always. The most common signs are lethargy, illnesses like flu, and joint pain. Lyme is entirely treatable if treated with antibiotics right away. If left untreated, however, the symptoms can worsen and become irreversible.

  6. It is necessary to protect yourself to avoid being bitten by ticks while in wooded areas. Wear long pants, and after hiking, have a friend check your clothing. This is especially important when nymphal and adult ticks are prevalent in late spring and early autumn, respectively. Given the increasing occurrence of Bartonella, diagnostic tests for these organisms have been highly insensitive until now and have not been able to identify many of the ever-growing list of recognized species and strains. The serological and molecular tests currently available lack sensitivity, may require repeated blood sampling, and may take weeks to produce results. Many of those challenges have been solved by the modern IGeneX research methods. Thanks to countless hours of work, highly responsive and widely inclusive testing is now available from IGeneXLab for Lyme disease that can identify most of these disease-causing, clinically important Bartonella species.

  7. There are currently two Lyme disease tests, a faster screening test, called the ELISA test, and a more precise, but more costly, Western blot test. The Western Blot test is normally performed only when the ELISA test turns out to be positive. That is because a test with ELISA will yield false positive results. It requires antibiotic therapy. For most cases, people may take the antibiotics and stay at home, but in extreme cases, or in patients with underlying health conditions, in a hospital, antibiotics will need to be administered by intravenous drip.

  8. Antibiotics clear up the disease-causing infection, but symptoms of Lymes disease continue in certain cases even after the infection has cleared up. Doctors may be arguing whether recurring symptoms are linked to the disease or not, but the people who encounter them almost always equate them with the onset of Lyme disease. Of that reason, it is extremely important to receive the medical treatment needed to return their body to health for a person with the disease, or a person who has had it but still has symptoms after the infection has cleared them up. Problems such as arthritis may need medication, and dietary help may be required to counter chronic symptoms such as exhaustion, which many former patients consider crippling even after weeks or months.

  9. To recover from long-term effects that can last long after the infection itself has been eradicated, sufficient rest, good nutrition, and a tolerable level of mild exercise, as well as mentally sound practices such as meditation and relaxation are necessary. Thankfully, Lyme disease is rare but it can be very destructive when it happens. Anyone with Lyme disease symptoms will get medical support and prompt testing from reputed laboratories such as IGenex Lab to find out exactly what causes the symptoms. If it is Lyme disease, it should be on the lookout for signs that linger and carry them to a doctor's attention too.

  10. Thank you
