  2. Berlin – die Hauptstadt • entstand im 13. Jh. aus zwei kleinen Ortschaften – Berlin und Cölln • war mehrfach die Hauptstadt deutscher Staaten – z.B. des Königreichs Preußen, des dt. Reiches • der Ostteil Berlins war ebenso die Hauptstadt der DDR • 1961 wurde zwischen beiden Teilen (Ost- und West-Berlin) eine Mauer gebaut (sie war die Staatsgrenze) • seit der Wiedervereinigung (1990) ist Berlin die gesamtdeutsche Hauptstadt • 3,47Millionen Einwohner (die bevölkerungsreichste Stadt Deutschlands und die zweitgrößte Stadt der EU) • der Stadtstaat liegt im Zentrum der Region Berlin/Brandenburg, am Zusammenfluss der Spree und der Havel Zdroj: [cit. 2013-11-29]. Berlin – Kunst- und Theaterstadt • zahlreiche kulturelle Institutionen: drei Opernhäuser (Deutsche Oper, Deutsche Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Komische Oper), viele Theater, Museen (die meisten befinden sich auf der Museumsinsel – das bedeutendste ist das Pergamonmuseum) und Galerien • historische Denkmäler, zahlreiche Universitäten (Humboldt Universität) • hervorragende Architektur (Berliner Rathaus, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche, Schloss Charlottenburg , Marienkirche usw.)
