  1. TYPES OF TREATMENT PROGRAMS FOR DRUG ADDICTION Today, our understanding of drug addiction is better than ever and there are several ways people can get treatment that fully meets their individual needs. As time goes by, drug addiction treatment approaches and individual programs dealing with substance abuse disorder have evolved and diversified and many drug treatment centers are embracing other complementary, alternative or holistic therapies.

  2. Detoxification: The First Step Towards Recovery The majority of programs in drug treatment centers start with medically supervised withdrawal. This is the process during which the body rids itself of all the accumulated toxins resulting from drug abuse so that the individual can then focus on rehab. Depending on the substance abused and the length of time a person has been using, withdrawal symptoms can vary from mild to extremely severe and in some cases, fatal.

  3. Residential Addiction Rehab Treatment Residential or inpatient rehab involves around-the-clock care that’s generally delivered in a clinical or hospital setting. There is no specific time frame for drug treatment center programs as they ideally should last for as long as the patient requires help. However, the rule of thumb is that a combined detox and rehabilitation program lasts anything from 12 weeks to 12 months depending on the severity of addiction.

  4. Outpatient Addiction Treatment Outpatient drug rehab generally offers extensive local-based therapies and treatments that patients can incorporate into their daily routine with sessions arranged at their convenience. Outpatient rehab is not for everyone but has been shown to be highly effective for people not needing 24-hour supervision who are not entirely able to go it alone in recovery.

  5. The Best Treatment Works for the Individual In order to achieve a successful recovery from drug abuse, individuals have to choose the treatment path that best resonates with them. If they are able to understand how the therapies and treatments offered to them can work for their specific type of addiction, the potential for successful rehabilitation and recovery is much greater.
