  3. Classical music sixteen century to present • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart • Born in Vienna, Austria 1756-1791 • Greatest composer of all time • Started composing at the age of 5 • Mood swings “bi-polar” • Know for his variety of symphonies

  4. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart • Played for French and English royal families • 1768 he produced his first opera “Singspiel” • Wrote 22 Operas • Also Made 626 Compositions • Wrote 44 Concertos • 1000 pieces big and small were written • 600 were documented and categorized • 41 Symphonies

Hans Florian Zimmer • Born September 12th, 1957 in Frankfurt, Germany. • Attended high school in London, received no formal music education. • Began career playing synthesizer and using computer technology for several late-70’s New Wave pop groups. • He is a film composer and music producer. • Plays piano, keyboard, synthesizer and the guitar.

  7. Hans Zimmer’s Achievements • Composed scores for the following films (among many others): • 1988- Rain Man • 1994- The Lion King- Soundtrack has sold over 15 million copies to date. He won Academy Award for Best Original Score, a Golden Globe, an American Music Award, a Tony, and two Grammy Awards for this film. • 1997- As Good as It Gets • 1998- The Price of Egypt • 2000- Gladiator- Won Golden Globe, Satellite Award, and BFCA Award • 2001- Black Hawk Down, Hannibal

Kraftwerk • Kraftwerk means “power station” • From Düsseldorf, Germany • Started in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider, who were both leading members of the band, until Schneider left in 2008. • The members of the band always fluctuated. • All electronically produced. Vocals made by computer speech software or spoken through a vocoder.

Kraftwerk • The two leading members of the band hold a patent for an electronic drum kit. • Kept their recording studio's location and contents a complete secret. • Released 11 albums in German and also released most in English: Tone Float, Kraftwerk, Kraftwerk 2, Ralf und Florian, Autobahn, Radio-Aktivität, Trans Europa Express, Die Mensch-Maschine, Computerwelt, Electric Café / Techno Pop, Tour de France Soundtracks • They influenced many of today's artists. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHEoMpMvz7A
