Where do you start? • Apply through the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online • There are eligibility requirements that must be met • There is Financial Aid for students who do not have a social security number
Applying for Financial Aid PINs • www.pin.ed.gov • used as an electronic signature • used for corrections on the Web • pins do not expire
Applying for Financial Aid FAFSA on the Web • www.fafsa.ed.gov • faster and easier than any other method • submits information directly to CPS • helps students detect and correct any errors • reduces the number of rejected applications • gives estimated Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
Applying for Financial Aid Applying Online • Bring copies of income tax returns, SS cards, W-2 forms, driver’s license, SS benefits, TANF, etc. • Read and follow directions to ensure accurate information is entered; errors will cause processing delays. • Save all records and other materials used in completing the application (FAFSA).

Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy • Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA • Student must complete 67% of the credits hours he attempts each semester ( Attempted hours within semester X 67%). • Student must graduate within Maximum Time Frame ( Required hours to graduate X 150%).
What happens when you withdraw and are receiving Financial Aid? • You are earning your Financial Aid by attending your classes. • When you withdraw, sometimes you have to return funds you have not earned because you stopped attending.
The Withdrawal Process • Official Withdrawals: Student begins the process at Admissions Office… Financial Aid will be reduced by percentage of attendance • Unofficial Withdrawals: Student just drops out…. Financial Aid will be reduced by 50%
