Ms. Tran’s 1st Grade News January 16, 2014 Important Dates Class News • January 20- MLK, Jr. Day (No School) • January 21 – I will be at the DO all day for a CPAA training. • January 29 – 100th Day of School 100th Day of School We will also be celebrating the 100th Day of School on January 29th! This is a big day in First Grade. We are asking that each student brings in 100 items in a small bag to share and count with the class. Please make sure it is 100 of the SAME thing such as 100 pennies, Cheerios, paper clips, stickers, etc. Thank you! Scholastic Book Order Forms Scholastic book order forms are included in this week’s Thursday folder. Please place any online orders on or before Friday, January 24th. Next week the students will begin to develop addition and subtraction strategies to 20.  Students will solve word problems that call for addition of three whole numbers whose sum is less than or equal to 20. They will apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract.  For example to add 2+6+4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten so that 10+2=12. Math News
