  1. SECTION 1.5SEGMENTS AND THEIR MEASURE LEARNING TARGETS: I will be able to construct congruent segments. VOCBAULARY Compass and Straightedge

  2. This is what we will be doing today… Constructing Congruent Segments Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4Am9v-4r7g Introduction Video

  3. Congruent Segments: Construct a segment XY congruent to the given segment RS. Constructions Activity

  4. Draw a line segment on your paper next to segment RS. Step 1:

  5. Mark a point on the segment and label it point X. X Step 2:

  6. Set your compass equal to the distance of segment RS. STEP 3:

  7. Hold the needle end of the compass on point X and then with the compass pencil draw a small arc over the segment the distance of RS. STEP 4: X

  8. Label the intersection of the arc and the line segment point Y. Now you have segment XY which is congruent to segment RS. STEP 5: Y X

  9. Segment Addition Postulate: Construct a segment TU with length equal to CD + LM. Guided Practice: Do problem together on the AVer.

  10. Points A, B, C, and D are collinear, in that order. Find BC if AC = 2x + 4, BC = x, BD = 3x +1, and AD = 17 Daily Puzzler

  11. Section 1.5 Assignment (PART 2) • Page 32 #27-45 ALL • Due Thursday, 10/06 HOMEWORK
