Introduction Technical Competence – Definition 2 • Technical competences cover: • the whole project, program or portfolio to meet interested parties‘ requirements; • the integration of work in a temporary project, program or portfolio organization; • the production of single project deliverables in the project organization; • the progress through all phases of the project, all stages of a program, all periods of the portfolio considered. Introduction Behavioral Competence – Definition 2 • Behavioral competences are listed in order of decreasing focus on the individual, and increasing the number of people involved: • the elements that are merely related to the project manager himself; • followed by the competence elements most related to his direct contacts in and around the projects; • followed by the elements most commonly used in relation to the whole project and parties involved including its context; • to finish with the elements that have their origins in the economy, society, culture, history. It covers the project manager‘s competence in managing relations with the line management organization and the ability to work in a project oriented organization.   45. Example Case Study Slide 1 Description of the project case The architect's office "Wolkenkratzer" needs an expansion space. After a long search process, a suitable accommodation is found. Although all employees are supposed to move to the new place, the daily business should not be disturbed. Mr. Mauer, the owner of the company, assigns Mr. Rümpel to organize the relocation. He should coordinate all tasks concerning the relocation such as contracting with past and new landlords; planning, coordination and monitoring of the relocation (the new location is available after 1st December). He is also responsible for the new seating arrangement, new office furniture and similar tasks. He is on the other hand in charge of odds and ends; such as tasks like developing the templates and production of note paper with the new office address.
