  4. Gods Ra was the God of the sun. He was the most important God aswell. Ancient Egyptians believed he was swallowed by the sky Goddess Nut, everytime he travelled through the underworld. Every morning Ra was reborn. Thoth was the God of writing and knowledge. He created hieroglyphs, and gave them as a present to the Ancient Egyptians. He was also connected to the moon. Geb was the God of the Earth. He was the father of Osiris, Isis, Nepthysand Seth. He was also the husband of Nut. Egyptians believed Geb’s laughter caused earthquakes. Ptah was the God of craftsmen. He spoke some wise words and the world came into being. Osiris was the God of the dead and ruler of the underworld. He was also the God of resurrection and fertility. He gave Egyptians barley, their most important crop. Anubis was the God of mummification. He also guided dead Pharaohs to the underworld. Horus was the sky God. He had the head of a falcon, matching his power. Sobek protected the River Nile and he was the God of swidt action. Amun was the king of the Gods. He could combine with Ra, making him very powerful. In fact, he was the most powerful God and when he combined with Ra, he was called Amun-Ra.

  6. Goddesses Isis was the Goddess of protection. She could cast magical spells for people. She was the mother of Horus and the husband of Osiris. She wore a headdress – shaped throne. When Horus was young, Isis normally just sat and held Horus on her lap. Pharaoh’s were called ‘’ Living Horus’s ‘’ making Isis important. Seshat was the Goddess of measurement. She wore a panther skin dress and a star headdress. Ma’at was the Goddess of truth, justice, harmony and balance of things on Earth. Viziers in charge of law courts were called ‘’ Priests of Ma’at‘’. Pharaoh’s made an offering to Ma’at to show that their people were preserving harmony and justice on Earth. Nephthys was the Goddess of the dead. She protected the dead, she was the mother of Anubis. She was the sister of Isis and Osiris and she was also the wife of Seth. She is seen in funerary scenes and is shown in coffins. She wore a headdress, like the other Goddesses, the only difference showing her name in hieroglyphs. Tawaret was a protective Goddess like Isis. She protected women during pregnacy and childbirth. She was supposed to be worshipped at home, instead of being worshipped at a temple. Tefnut was the Goddess of moisture. She was related to the sky Goddess : Nut and the earth God : Geb. She looked like a woman with the head of a lioness. Bastet was the Goddess of joy, love and pleasure. She had the head of a cat making
