  1. Ecole Polytechnique The Graduate School: central to École Polytechnique's strategy the École Polytechnique is planning to create a continuum between the engineering, masters and doctoral courses. The 3rd year, which is closely linked to the 4th year, is particularly important in that it provides a link to the master's program. This Master 1 year marks the start of the Graduate School, the central pillar of École Polytechnique's strategy. It is open to the best external students joining the 3rd year of the engineering course and guarantees both the quality and uniqueness of the future Master 2 and doctoral students. From the 4th year, a number of joint accreditation partnerships with other establishments allow students who have not followed the Polytechnic program to join the École.Such integration is based on a demand for quality, which is required to achieve The École Polytechnique's objective of offering a clearly understood, internationally recognised course. The Master 2 students make considerable use of The École Polytechnique's Research Centre.

  2. Ingénieur Polytechnicien Program The Polytechnic course covers 4 years(FR only) and is based on three objectives:1- offering a multidisciplinary scientific education 2- adding a practical human education to this scientific training, along with an open outlook on the outside world 3- achieving a sound professional expertise based on excellent scientific knowledge, a dual expertise partly acquired outside The École and a number of placements spread throughout the course, allowing the student to go straight into working life.

  3. General Education (remember they’re all military officers!) • The Polytechnic phase itself is multidisciplinary. • The first year is based around a Common Core in which students have • no choice of disciplines. • In the second year, students can choose six disciplines out of eight. • The basic principle of the engineering course is to provide a broad spectrum • that takes students to the frontiers of science. The sciences are approached with a mathematical structure that enables • students to follow the six required disciplines. The solid fund of • mathematical knowledge that this requires justifies selection in the • competitive exam for the engineering course. • The first two years include project work, classes, experimental • modules and English language classes.

  4. École Polytechnique masters programs are graduated, high-level courses in the fields of science and technology, engineering science, economics and management and sustainable development. They are open to the best European and international students who have at least a first university degree or bachelor degree, and to students who have completed an engineering program. These programs lead to the national masters diploma (DNM), thus offering an easily identifiable international standard diploma equivalent to grade "M“ in the European Higher Education Area (Bologna process). It leads to the continuation of studies in a doctoral form or to joining a company direct at a high level.

  5. The masters programs last 2 years (120 ECTS). The first year, M1 (60 ECTS), is organised around the 3rd year of the Polytechnic program. The second year, M2 (60 ECTS) or speciality year, is based on a course jointly organised and accredited with other higher education organisations. The masters title is broken down into domain, option, speciality and course. The masters domain names refer to the major areas of research and training (humanities, science and technology, etc.) and, where relevant, to the major areas of economic and social activity. Within a domain, the options refer to disciplines, a combination of disciplines or professional areas. The specialities in the M2 year look more deeply into the research or applied themes within each option. In certain cases, the choice of classes is further refined within the specialities in the form of coherent courses.

  6. Ecole Polytechnique (EP) offers two mention of Master's degrees; one in "Mechanics" (4 specialities) and another in "Environmental Mechanics & Physics" (1 speciality). • Master of Mechanics • The first year, M1(60 ECTS), introduces the fundamental concepts and methods which are essential in order to fully benefit from the 4 • specialities offered by the Mechanics' Department in M2 (60 ECTS).Notice that 2 international tracks (english taught) are available in M2: • "Fluid Mechanics, Fundamentals & Applications" • "Materials for Construction"

  7. Research for a PhD Edx at a glance 530 PhD students 35% are International Students 29% are Women 150 student registered in first year 35 PhD students under joint-supervisions  with 21 countries 100 Thesis defended Financial support It is compulsory to have a financial support for the 3 years of your PhD to do a PhD at l'Ecole Polytechnique. There are various sources of funding for a PhD, depending on your profile and your project. Each year with the Gaspard Monge and Fondation de l'X grants, grants specifically aimed at former Ecole Polytechnique students, French ministry for higher education and research grants and External Relations at l'Ecole Polytechnique grants, the doctoral school oversees the allocation of about 80 PhD grants. However there are many other sources of funding directly managed through laboratories like CFR-CEA, DGA, CIFRE, Ile de France...

  8. Paris Tech Institut ParisTech is a collective entity regrouping twelve of the most prestigious French institutes of higher education and research including Ecole Polytechnique.ParisTech, a research and higher education cluster of excellence, is composed of several French Grandes Écoles (Engineering and Business Schools) that cover a sweeping spectrum in science, technology and management. The high professor/students ratio, the wide range of scientific disciplines covered and the quality of research at ParisTech attract the best students and scientists.
