  2. OUR STORY The Challenge The Solution The Road Ahead 2

  3. THE CHALLENGE

  4. THEFACTS 9 million Americans are unemployed, with another 2 million who are marginally employed. 5 million disengaged millennials are not actively seeking employment. 4 million U.S. jobs are left unfilled because of a mismatch between the skills workers possess and those employers need. 95 percent of Business Roundtable member CEOs indicated that their companies suffer from skills shortages. Many industries offer workforce development solutions, such as industry-recognized credentials, but they are not linked and leveraged economy-wide. 4

  5. BUSINESS ROADBLOCKS Businesses of all sizes struggle to find workers with the necessary skills to fill available jobs. INDUSTRY WORKERS Workers have not been provided with the necessary skills and training needed to succeed in today’s evolving economy. Industries have distinct approaches to solve the skills gap, but have yet to combine their efforts. EDUCATION STUDENTS Education and workforce development are not preparing students for current and future jobs. There is a chaotic marketplace in which not all degrees nor credentials lead to meaningful careers. 5
