  1. The History of medicine Adriana Garcia

  2. Why is the History of medicine important? • Looking at the history of medicine is a good way of observing improvement on the way that things have advanced. Without knowing the history of it we wouldn’t know how to make medicine better, or if a method succeeded or failed. Medicine history kind of allows doctors and scientist to see what they need to do to help patience recover from their illnesses.

  3. Where it began • The first documented uses of medicine and its practices dated back to 3300BC - 525BC. Egyptians were the first to know how to cure illnesses and injuries. Although they didn’t know to much about the human body they had methods of healing that essentially worked for them. Egyptians believed that the gods had some control and power of how a certain body would function. Based on the amount of prayer and sin you had the better or worse the health of one would get. Of course they had doctors and surgeons who would try to cure infections, but most procedures caused more harm they did help.

  4. From the 1700s to the late 1800s • In the early 1700s the fist medical school was established in the United States. No one really knew how the body functioned or how to perform surgery sanitarily. All doctors and professors that were teaching were convinced that purging helped most illnesses die. Doctors during this time were partially un aware of any sorts of Bactria. However in he late 1800s and early 1900s scientist and doctors became more knowledgeable of how to kill bacteria. They also descoveredhow to make and use antibiotics, anesthesia, and painkillers. • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qxx14RCxblg

  5. Todays medicine • Today we are battling some of the same illnesses as people were back in the 1700s to early 1900s. The modern method is more advanced By using microscopes, and robotic surgery to make incisions and observations more precise. Thanks to the history and background of medicine doctors and surgeons are more knowledge able about the human body and how it functions.
