  2. Ions: A charged particle when an atom gains or loses one or more electrons.Cation: A positively charged particle.Anion: A negatively charged particle.

  3. Flame testing is conducted to identify the metal cations in a solution.

  4. When these cations are heated they vaporize into a gas which burns causing the flame to change color.
