  2. What is a Diff EQ? • A differential equation is an equation containing derivatives or differentials. • A relation such that:

  3. How to solve a diff eq • Use a technique called: separation of variables • Separate the variables • Integrate both sides with respect to their variables • Solve for the constant if a condition is given.

  4. Separable Differential Equations A separable differential equation can be expressed as the product of a function of x and a function of y. Example: Multiply both sides by dx and divide both sides by y2 to separate the variables. (Assume y2 is never zero.)
