  1. DHS Bulldog Announcements Tuesday, September 17, 2019

  2. GOVERNOR’S HONORS PROGRAM • All students nominated for the Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) were emailed the GHP nomination application to their school’s email address. • If you were nominated and did not receive the application, please contact Mrs. Peek ASAP. • The application is due electronically to Mrs. Peek by Monday, September 30, 2019.

  3. LOANER DEVICES • Loaner devices are to be turned into the Technology Office in the Media Center on the same day they are checked out.

  4. CAMPUS PARKING • This is a reminder that all students must purchase a parking decal to park on campus. • Additionally, students that have purchased a parking decal must park in their assigned parking space number or you will be ticketed and fined. • Students that have not purchased a decal can go online to purchase a decal on www.myschoolbucks.com. Parking is being enforced!

  5. A HELPING HAND • Peer tutoring assistance is available in the media center. • If you would like a helping hand, please come to the Media Center during any block except IF.

  6. ATHLETE OF THE WEEK • Our athlete of the week is Randall Cleckley. As a junior, it is Randall’s first year running cross-country. He really enjoys the sport and is always ready for practices & races. Even when he does not feel well, he powers through and finishes each race with extraordinary effort. • DHS is lucky to have a student-athlete like Randall!

  7. YOUTH LEADERSHIP HENRY • The following students were selected to represent Dutchtown High School as part of Youth Leadership Henry: • Aria Adams, Leila Braggs, Skyler Griffin, Morgan Oglesby, Sumaiyah Phillips and Mya Potts. • Congratulations on your selection!

  8. TAKE A LOOK AT A BOOK • The book club will meet today (9/17) from 3:30 PM – 4:15 PM in the Media Center. If you came to yesterday’s meeting, it is not necessary to attend today. • Bring the book you are currently reading or check one out prior to the meeting.

  9. VICTORIOUS • Congratulations to our Varsity and JV volleyball teams! Both teams beat Pike County and Spalding High Schools yesterday. • Our varsity team is ranked 1st in the area. Go Dawgs! • Please come out to support the team today at Woodland High School. Game time is 5:15 PM.

  10. FLAG IS ON FIRE! • Congratulations to our girls Flag Football Team for starting the season off with a bang!! • The girls defeated Ola High School 36-0 and defeated Stockbridge High School 42-0.

  11. GAME TIME • JV/Varsity volleyball will play at Woodland High on Tuesday, September 17, at 5:15 PM. • Varsity softball has a game at Ola High on Tuesday, September 17, at 5:55 PM.

  12. STEP TEAM • The DHS Kode Red Step team will have an interest meeting on Wednesday, September 18, from 3:30 to 4:00 PM in room 112. • Boys and girls are welcome!

  13. SINK OR SWIM • Ladies! Are you interested in trying out for the Swim Team? • There will be an interest meeting on Wednesday, September 18, immediately after school in the new auxiliary gym. Please have your ride pick you up by 4:00 PM. • If you are unable to attend or have questions, please see Coach Haley in the gym.

  14. GIRLS’ BASKETBALL MEETING Attention all female athletes: There will be a basketball interest meeting on Wednesday, September 18, at 6:00 PM in the auxiliary gym. This meeting is mandatory for all players and parents. Please make arrangements to attend with parents. We will begin promptly at 6 PM and dismiss at 6:30 PM.

  15. THE SOUNDS OF DUTCHTOWN What Henry County band won this week's Henry Herald Battle of the Bands? • The Sounds of Dutchtown, of course!   16. THE DUTCHTOWN PLAYERS • Come see The Blue and The Grey at the PAC on Wednesday, September 18, at 7:00 PM starring The Dutchtown Players. • Presale tickets are $3 for students and $7 for everyone else. For tickets purchased at the door, the student price is $5 and $10 for all others.

  17. ART CLUB • ATTENTION ART CLUB MEMBERS: The Art Club will meet on Thursday, September 19, from 3:20-3:45 PM to discuss the upcoming field trip.

  18. FBLA • FBLA will have a membership meeting on Thursday, September 19, from 3:25 – 4:25 PM in room 409.

  19. SOPHOMORE LUNCH JAM • Sophomore Lunch Jam will be held on Friday, September 20, during 4th block. • The cost is $5.00 to get in and $10 if you are ordering food. • Tickets can be purchased from Coach Wesley in room 209 or during any lunch.

  20. SAVE THE DATE • Georgia Tech will host a NACAC Stem College & Career Fair from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, September 29, at McCamish Pavilion. • Free registration at www.gotomystemfair.com.

  21. All seniors graduating in May must pay the mandatory senior fee of $200. The first payment of $50 is due on Monday, September 30. You may pay Ms. Martin in room 110 before school, during 4th block or directly after school. Please see Ms. Martin with questions.

  22. JUNIOR & SENIOR PROM • The junior and senior prom will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the Four Seasons Atlanta. • Prom tickets are now on sale and can be purchased for $110 each until September 30. Prices will increase thereafter. • Tickets can be bought online at myschoolbucks.com. They may also be purchased from Ms. Johnson in room 224 using cash, check or money order.

  23. AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT UNION • The African American Student Union Club invites you to a “Girls vs Guys” debate on Tuesday, October 1, from 3:30 to 4:45 PM in room 125. • New and returning members are welcome!

  24. MR. & MRS. DRAMA • Please stop by room 308 to vote for Mr. and Mrs. Drama. • Deadline for voting is September 30.

  25. ASVAB • The ASVAB will be given on Tuesday, October 8. • Please go to the counseling office to sign up.

  26. DO YOU KNOW THE WAY TO ATHENS? • An admissions representative from the University of Georgia will be at DHS on Wednesday, October 9, to meet with interested juniors and seniors who would like to know more about their admissions process. • Please sign up in the counseling office if interested.

  27. SENIOR PORTRAITS • Cady Studios will be back at DHS for the final senior yearbook picture day on Monday, October 14. • If you do not sign up for this day, you will have to go to one of the Cady Studios locations. • Please go to www.cadystudios.com to schedule your session. The cost is $30. See Ms. Martin in room 110 with questions.

  28. GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY TOUR • The Georgia State College Tour will take place October 22nd.  The cost is $35. Students must be passing all classes to attend the trip. • Permission slips are available in the counseling office and available seats are first come first served. See Mrs. Johnson in the counseling office for questions.

  29. DUTCHTOWN’S GOT TALENT • Do you act, sing, dance, recite poetry, perform magic tricks or play an instrument? If so, come out to audition for the One Night Only: Talent Show. Soloists and groups are welcome! • Auditions will be on Tuesday, October 22, and Thursday, October 24. Please see Dr. Jolley in room 308 for an audition form. • The show will be on Friday, December 6. If your act makes the showcase, you are required to attend three show rehearsals.
