Coaching Corner • Principles of behavior change • Foster motivation • 80-90% of reinforcement positive • Issue of punishment • Avoid Don’ts • 5:1 ratio positive to negative • Sandwich technique • Does not work: criticism, intimidation, sarcasm, guilt, physical punishment (sprints in 90 degrees)

  11. Drill • Resolving Conflicts • Say something is important, but not showing it • Conflict=stress • Communication skills • Sandwich technique • Take out the mouth guard • Take off the helmet

  12. Cool Down • Good self care as a parent “coach” • Mindful of your own goals • Care of your relationships • Care of your physical needs • Riding the waves- process not outcome • Get support
