  1. Kalstenius Icefield, located on Ellesmere Island, Canada, shows vast stretches of ice. The icefield produces multiple glaciers that flow into a larger valley glacier. The glacier in this photograph is three miles wide.

  2. The Mueller Glacier (covered by debris, foreground) is collapsing rapidly like most glaciers around the world; clearly visible is the moraine marking its extent in the late 19th Century. In the background Lake Pukaki.
