  3. Tragic Hero • On your own sheet of paper, complete the Tragic Hero worksheet and turn in on the back table.

  4. The Crucible Project Wild Card Project Ideas Map of Salem Village • Newspaper Page People Magazine • Crucible Collage Directions: Working individually or with a partner, you will create a project that highlights an area of The Crucible. Students may choose one project from the list above. You will gather information and conduct research to create a visually appealing and accurate project. Students will offer insightful and thorough analysis and explanation in support of their project.

  5. Map of Salem Village & Essay: Using a Poster Board (larger than 11 x 17) create a map of Salem Village. The Map will have a title, compass, and include drawings of an aerial view of the village. Minimum of 10 locations should be labeled clearly. The essay must be 400 word minimum (typed, double spaced, size 12 font) exploring how the map represents the text and your design for Salem Village. Include 5 quotations from the reading. Map will be graded on creativity, content and presentation.

  6. Newspaper Front & Back Page: Using a Poster Board (larger than 11 x 17) create the front and back page of a newspaper you would find in Salem, Massachusetts in the 1700’s. Include title, date, 2 articles (200 word minimum each) weather forecast, classified section, Editorial (50-100 words). Include 5 quotations from the reading. Newspaper will be graded on creativity, content and presentation.

  7. People Magazine: Create a magazine inspired by the novel. Magazines will be at least 6 pages (computer paper size). Magazine will have a cover with title of your choosing along with illustration, 3 articles (200 word minimum each) that discuss the play in some way, ie. Trial of John Proctor, Abigail's disappearance, feature article on a character, interview, etc. Include 5 quotations from the reading. Magazine will include 2 advertisements for products that would have been used in the 1700’s. Magazine will be graded on creativity, content and presentation.

  8. Collage & Essay: Using a Poster Board create an intricate collage using at least 50 pictures. Pictures may come from magazines, the internet or hand drawn. Pictures must represent characters or places in The Crucible. The essay must be 400 word minimum (typed, double spaced, size 12 font) exploring how the collage represents the text. Include 5 quotations from the reading. Collage and essay will be graded on creativity, content and presentation.
