  1. The Stock Market Game January 12- March 28, 2008 The Stock Market Game was hosted by Merrill Lynch.

  2. By: Alexie Horton Group 2 Ms. Huggins and Ms. Lucas’ Class.

  3. Ms. Huggins and Ms. Lucas told us the rules of the Hootie Stock Market Game before we could buy or sell any stocks. Ms. Lucas told us how to do a spread sheet on our laptop so we didn’t have to write it by hand.

  4. Stocks that we bought.

  5. Here are some of the stocks we could have bought. AT&T BASF Boeing Caterpillar DuPont Fluor Harsco NCR Merrill Lynch Sysco Vulcan Wal*Mart Walgreen Verizon Target Time Warner Tanger Outlet

  6. All the Sixth Grade students had to write an essay called invest write. The following is a copy of the writing prompt. Show how the “news” affects stock prices. Choose two companies that are in different industries. Discuss an external event that would affect the price of the stock in both companies. Explain how share prices will either go up or down in each of these companies due to the event. How do you use your research to make a choice about which stock you would like to invest in.

  7. Invest Write Essay The news would affect stock prices by talking about a certain stock, like making bad comments about them. The news may affect the stocks by saying that they have a lot of objects so that the price would drop dramatically. Two stocks that are in different industries are Wal-Mart and Coca Cola Bottling Company. An external event that would affect both of these stocks is if gas went up to much they could not afford it so they couldn’t deliver their objects. The price of both of these stocks would go down if this event actually happened. The reason the price for stock in the Wal-Mart industry would lose money because they could not get in their stuff that they need to sell to make money. The Coca Cola Bottling Company would fall in money because if they could not deliver their Coca Colas then they could not make anymore profit. I use my research to make a choice about which stock I would invest in by how much they went up or down. I would also use my research to make a choice by deciding what makes most sense about the price I think a stock should be and how much it actually is.

  10. The laptops this year helped because we didn’t have to go to the computer lab every time we needed to research stocks. The research was easier because everyone could do research individually.
