Administrative Information According to Ukraine Law “On State Statistics”, methodology is a reporting documentation related to selection and usage of administrative data and shall be agreed with Ministries and Departments of State Service of Statistics of Ukraine. Cooperation in exchange of agricultural and environment information between State Service of Statistics and other executive agencies shall be provided by regulatory and legal acts, bilateral agreements (for example, Ministry of Nature, State Environmental Investment Agency).

Publication of Statistical Data • Statistical reports and bulletins • Analytical materials, express publications • Answers to respondent requests • Internet:http://www.ukrstat.gov.ua • Questionnaire of international companies Plans with performance time Methodology, blanks and instructions on filling in state statistical observations, regulatory documents Time lag for publication of statistical observation results is from 5 days (for monthly, quarterly observations) to 3 months (for annual observations).

Agricultural Indicator Selection and Development of which shall be Performed by State Statistics Agencies • –land irrigation; • – structure of agricultural lands and farm livestock; • – size of fertilized lands; • – volume of fertilizers for harvest of agricultural plants; • – area of land on which lime and gypsum was applied as well as volume of substances to improve soils; • – area on which plantprotection products, including pesticides were applied; • – volume and price of pesticides purchased by agricultural companies.

  7. Land Irrigation • Area of drained lands. • Area of irrigated lands. • Area of lands actually watered in the reporting year. Specific weight of reclaimed lands in Ukraine is insignificant: drained lands is 7% out of total area of agricultural lands, irrigated – 5%. Agricultural companies irrigate annually 70-75% of areas considered to be irrigated lands or 3-4% out of total areas of agricultural crops.

  8. Structure of Agricultural Lands • Generation of structure is performed based on annual administrative data on quantitative accounting of lands submitted by State Agency of Land Resources of Ukraine. • In the area of agricultural lands, plough land covers 78%, pasture lands – 13%, haylands – 6%, and perennial plants – 3%. • Plowed land in Ukraine is about 60%. • Coefficient of land reclamation – over 70%.

  9. Structure of Farm Livestock • Data on number of livestock, its sex-age-structure shall be annually selected by state statistics agencies based on universal enumeration of animals in agricultural companies and household. • Major and medium-sized companies submit their annual reports on livestock (small companies and households perform additional calculations). • Main species of livestock to be registered is cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, rabbits, poultry(by main types), bees and fur animals of cage management.

  10. Volume of Fertilizers for Harvest of Agricultural Plants Area and volume of fertilizers: • Per agricultural crops, for pastures, haylands, perennial plants. • For calendar and agricultural year. • Mineral fertilizers in conversion to active material: - including, nitrogen, phosphoric and potassium. • Organic fertilizers shall be considered in kind. - manure, different composts, organic mixtures, chicken manure, etc.

  11. Usage of Pesticides • Area on which plant protection products, including pesticides were applied. • Volume of pesticides purchased by agricultural companies in accounting year. • Cost of pesticides purchased by agricultural enterprises in accounting year Accounting shall be in kind without conversion to active substance.

  12. Prospects of Agriculture Statistics Development • Harmonization of national system of agriculture statistics with requirements of Eurostat, practical application of international statistical methodology. • Improvement of fertilizers and pesticides statistics. • Improvement of structural and short-term agricultural statistics. • Improvement of economic agriculture accounts. • Performance of general agriculture census and complete structural inspection of agricultural companies.
