  1. Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) Mission Particles and Fields Package Pre-Environmental Review May 22 -23, 2012 09 – Test Infrastructure Dave Curtis, PFP Package Manager

  2. SSL Integration and Test Facilities Cleanroom (with 5 THEMIS probes) ‘Snout’ TVac Chamber (LPW deploy) Magnetics Screening Station Calibration Chamber

  3. Package Integration Instrument and Package Integration in SSL Clean Room Class 100K or better Large common bench for Package Integration plus several benches for instrument work Benches ESC certified Flow bench (for detector work if needed) Temperature, Humidity monitored Purge provided (low oxygen alarm) Limited access (training required) Dedicated tool chest Cleaning facility for bringing equipment in GSE area just outside clean area

  4. Calibration Facilities MAG Calibrations at facility at GSFC EUV Calibrations at SIRF SWEA/SWIA/STATIC calibrations in 2 chambers at SSL Old chamber has small ion gun, electron gun, manipulator New chamber is bigger, full range manipulation New chamber has 3-axis helmholz coils New chamber has electron gun, mass-selective ion gun SEP calibrations in third chamber at SSL Electron and high energy ion gun, manipulator LPW calibrations at SSL Faraday cages

  5. EMC Facilities Subcontractor facilities METLabs in Santa Clara, CA http://www.metlabs.com/ ~40 miles from SSL MIL STD 461/462 Have quoted MAVEN PFP Test Site visited

  6. Vibration, Acoustics Facilities Vibration & Acoustics at Subcontractor Facilities Vibration at Quanta Labs Used on may previous programs Fast turn-around, ~40 miles from SSL http://www.quantalabs.com/ STATIC Acoustics at NTS labs in Santa Clarita near LA performed STATIC EM tests http://www.nts.com/

  7. SSL Magnetics Screening Facility Measure the powered off dipole Perm and Deperm station Measure permeability

  8. Thermal Vac Facilities SSL Facilities 5 chambers available with various configurations 3 chambers suitable for MAVEN PFP components 7 component tests: PFDPU+MAG sensors SEP1 & SEP2 SWEA SWIA STATIC LPW Booms LPW Preamps EUV already done SSL ‘SNOUT’ chamber supports LPW boom deployment during thermal vac ‘Snout’ TVac Chamber (LPW deploy)

  9. Facility Conflicts No conflicts with other groups for SSL facilities Internal conflicts between PFP instruments for facilities such as calibration chambers are worked regularly No known conflicts with subcontractor facilities Will coordinate as we get closer to the test date.
