  2. Reasons why I want to learn Spanish… 1. I think this language is really awesome! 2. It is spoke in so many different countries! 3. I was having trouble in my regular Spanish classes, so I want to see if this works better! 4. Spanish is one of the top language’s in the united states. 5. Many more jobs will open up if I can understand and speak Spanish!

  3. Spanish is spoken in… • 21 different countries!!! These countries are Spain, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Guatemala, Cuba, El Salvador, and SOOO many more!

  4. The Country I choose is… GUATEMALA!!!!

  5. Basic Facts: • Guatemala really means “Land Of Forests”. • Winter is between the months of May or June. • Summer is between the months of February and May. • They also receive very little rain. • Guatemala City (Capital) was founded in 1776.

  6. The Land: • Plantations there grow Coffee, Sugarcane, bananas, and Cardamom (a spice founded on rice).

  7. Population: • They estimated in 1999 about 12 million people. • They had a forty year period of violence. • Estimated one million people dead, disappeared, or emigrated.

  8. Holidays: • They have two main holidays, Independence Day (Sep. 15th) and The Day of the National Patron Saint, Maria. (August 15th) • Their National anthem is Guatemale Feliz, meaning Happy Guatemala!

  9. Food: • Guatemalans mostly ate Corn made into tortillas or tamales, black beans, rice, and wheat, in the form of bread or pasta. People also ate chicken, pork, and beef. They are well known for their fruits and veggies. It is a basic rule that they eat 3 times a day. Noon being the largest meal of the day.
