  2. Introduction! • The Middle Ages are a period from 800-1400 C.E. • The Middle Ages took place all over the world, not just Europe and the Middle East!!

  3. 1. Africa is HUGE. Look on page 446 • 2. Discuss with your group the chart labeled “Comparing Africa to the U.S.”

  4. Look at the chart on page 448 and discuss with your table group the trade routes of North Africa

  5. Look at the chart on page 451 and discuss the trading Empires of Axum, Ghana, Mali, Songhai, and Zimbabwe

  6. Look at the chart on page 452 and discuss with your table group the trade in East Africa with the Middle East!

  7. Look at the map on page 409 and discuss the geography of China. Find Japan on the map as well.
