WAP Location DC Scope • Define the overall WAP architectural framework for the location that includes the access to position information available in the client and/or the network and/or other entities. • Location based application interface – The Committee will specify abstract interface(s) for location based service applications. This will be done according to the current WAP architecture considering WAP convergence with W3C.

  3. WAP Location DC Scope (2) • User privacy – The Committee will address a privacy model relating to the WAP user and/or subscriber of a location based services. • Legality – Detailed approach(s) regarding legal entities access to location information will be explored in the DC. • Location requirements – The Committee will address the WAP location requirements defined by the Telematics Expert Group, Carrier Expert Group and the Specification Requirements Committee. Additionally the DC is open to other sources of requirements as well.

  4. WAP Location DC Scope (3) • Network Operator privacy – The Committee will address a mechanism to ensure the handling of the privacy issues concerning the network operator. • Out of Scope Topics • Position technology - The underlying position determination technologies or procedures are not defined within the work of this Committee. • Legal awareness – The awareness of ALL legal issues in different countries is not a topic of discussion within this Committee.

  5. Privacy Requirements • User Privacy • Subscriber Privacy • Possessor Control Access • Re-use of WAP Security • Prevent Leakage of Strategic Information • Disclosure of Client Identity • Adaptable to different legislative environments
