  1. Metadata • Metadata Applications • A wide range of web-based services are available which make use of metadata, especially Dublin Core metadata, such as the HotOIL and HotMeta. HotOIL enables fielded searches to be carried out, such as searching for the author of a resource. For information on their activities and projects and pointers to metadata resources see <URL: http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/metadata/> HotMeta is a Dublin Core application which enables fielded searches to be carried out. See <URL: http://www.dstc.edu.au/RDU/HotMeta/qld/> UKOLN is funded by the British Library Research and Innovation Centre, the Joint Information Systems Committee of the Higher Education Funding Councils, as well as by project funding from the JISC’s Electronic Libraries Programme and the European Union. UKOLN also receives support from the University of Bath where it is based.
