  2. Definition: handshapes that represent each letter of the alphabet • Fingerspelling is used by fluent signers to communicate: • Proper nouns Mark Twain, Hurst • Specific English words great, fantastic, wonderful • Words with no established sign notes, style, early Fingerspelling

  3. Hold your hand to the side of your chest, not in front of your face. • Keep your palm out and your elbow down, close to your side. • Don’t bounce, jerk or move your hand. Fingerspelling Rules

  4. When fingerspelling 2 words together, just pause between words. • To spell double letters, re-form the letter or slide slightly to the right. • Clarity and fluency are more important than speed. Fingerspelling Tips
