  5. 2002 - Construction started in JAEA-Tokai • Nov.2006 Linac - Beam commissioning started • Jan.2007 Linac - Beam accelerated to 181MeV • Sep.2007 RCS - Beam commissioning started • Oct.2007 RCS - Beam accelerated to 3 GeV • Dec.2007 MR - Off-beam commissioning started • May.2008 MR–Beam Commissioning (3GeV) will start • Dec.2008 MR–Beam Commissioning (30GeV) will start J-PARC Schedule and Milestones EPICS at SSRF/Shaghai in March.2008, n.kami, KEK

  7. Linac and RCS Proton beam was acceleratedsuccessfully to the design values (181 MeV/ Linac, 3 GeV/RCS, respectively). Progress in the Recent 1-year Linac – on Jan.24.2007 RCS on Oct.31.2007 EPICS at SSRF/Shaghai in March.2008, n.kami, KEK

Linac : Goal is 181MeVx{30mA,500us,25Hz} Studies toward high power operation {5mA,20us,2.5Hz} in Jan.2007 #1st successful beam -> Jun.2007: {5mA,50us,25Hz}, {5mA,250us,5Hz} # high duty -> Jan.2008: {30mA,50us,1Hz} # high beam-current Variousimprovements using beam diagnosticssystems But more studies needed RCS : Beam accelerated to the design value, 3GeV 1 bunch operation: 4.4x10^12 ppb with 25Hz (52.5kW) peak current 25mA, bunch width 560ns, for 4 minutes Beam loss is at injection collimators Toward “stable” operation with 20kW output in 2008 Not enough RF power for higher power operation More spare parts for MR test and future regular operation Progress in the Recent 1-year (Continued) EPICS at SSRF/Shaghai in March.2008, n.kami, KEK

  13. Infrastructure - Computers CPU Servers : Blade-type servers (IBM Blade Center) 16 CPU-blades were introduced during Nov.2006-Oct.2007 For software development, operation, simulation, .. Old servers were replaced by them Disk Server : Dedicated storage disk (IBM N3600/NetApp) User’s operational size is 1TB(program)+7TB(data) Introduced in Feb.2008, will be in operation very soon Progress in the Recent 1-year (Continued) Blade server (8 blades in) Disk server system EPICS at SSRF/Shaghai in March.2008, n.kami, KEK

Linacand RCS The control system(s) has been developed and used successfully Most of RCS devices are controllable, but partly not yet HLA – High Level Application HLA for Linac and RCS developed by commissioning staff using XAL/JCE and SAD Contributed to beam commissioning successfully HLA for MR Under development using SAD More details will be given by Yamamoto-san on Mar.14(Fri) J-PARC Control – So far EPICS at SSRF/Shaghai in March.2008, n.kami, KEK

  16. MR IOC side Use Intel-based VME-bus IOC with Linux GE Funac VMIVME7807 (Pentium4M, high-performance) GE Funac VMIVME7700 (Celeron), VMEbus-access Lib. Sanritz SVA041 (Celeron), for network devices EPICS 3.14.7, Scientific Linux 4.4 Implementations are in the final phase EPICS db creation and OPI(MEDM,EDM) development are underway High-level application will be developed by the commissioning group Cabling with device groups is also underway J-PARC Control - MR EPICS at SSRF/Shaghai in March.2008, n.kami, KEK
