  1. Freewrite for 10-minutes on the following : Explain how your artifact represents your culture? If you get stuck, think about how we’ve defined culture and define the culture you chose for this assignment (remember, cultures overlap). What do people in that culture think, feel, believe, do, understand and how does your artifact represent a piece of that culture? How would someone from another culture understand your artifact?

  2. Share with your table Take turns sharing your artifact and explain how it represents your culture. Be good listeners and help provide feedback if someone feels a little stuck on explaining it. BE PREPARED to share 2 examples from your table.

  3. Freewrite for 10-minutes on the following : How is your artifact rhetorical? If you get stuck, think about how we’ve defined rhetoric. Think through how your text has an audience (who are they? What do they do with the text?) and a purpose (what is it? Does it persuade people to engage with it in a particular way? Does it persuade people to think, feel, believe, understand something else in a particular way?)

  4. Share with your table Take turns sharing your artifact and explain how it is rhetorical. Be good listeners and help provide feedback if someone feels a little stuck on explaining it. BE PREPARED to share 2 examples from your table.

  5. FOR WEDNESDAY Read "Sparring with Public Memory: The Rhetorical Embodiment of Race, Power, and Conflict in the Monument to Joe Louis" by Victoria J. Gallagher and Margaret R. LaWare. BE PREPARED TO DISCUSS THE READING or I WILL CRY AND YELL AND CRY SOME MORE. Please 
