District Project Goals • To encourage clubs to use Rotary Foundation District Grants to engage in short term local Community projects or short term International projects • To encourage clubs to join together to apply for Global Grants (minimum grant US$30,000.00) for sustainable International projects • To encourage clubs to seek out Peace Fellowship applicants before May 2014

  5. Mission of TRF To enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty Closing date for District Grant Applications 31st August 2013 (for spend year 2013-2014)

District Grant Fund Criteria The Club must hold current qualified status - by attending an annual Grant Seminar and returning a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) The club must have a history of giving to TRF or a commitment to do so. The project must meet the mission of TRF, or align with one or more of the 6 Areas of Focus (AoF) The club must provide the Grant Committee Chair with a description of the project, the project location, project objectives, time-scale and management plan (template word doc. available) Preference in District fund distribution will be given were the request more closely matches the club(s) fund 1:1

  8. Nurture Africa’s Health and Community Centre

  9. Project Request • Nurture Africa is beginning the construction of an extension to its current paediatric health centre. This health centre will provide services related to HIV prevention and sexual and reproductive health. • To provide ‘Best Practise’ laboratory services to 20,000 of the most vulnerable HIV infected and affected children who are receiving primary health and HIV care per year. • To provide lifesaving anti-retroviral treatment to 1,600 HIV infected children and youths per year. • To provide Reproductive Health Services and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission Services to 500 women per year.

Project Sustainability • Rotary’s support of this project would help ensure the sustainability of NA’s valuable disease prevention and treatment programme and improve its capacity by 100%. • The health of the entire community is enhanced and thousands more lives will be saved by the simple expansion of Nurture Africa’s existing clinic. • Nansana Rotary club will continue to promote awareness of disease prevention and have proposed the use of Rotary emblems on the proposed transport and equipment.
