Šariš castle • one of the biggest castle complexes in Slovakia, stretches over monticule of volcanic origin. • it is situated north-westwards of the town VeľkýŠariš • it was permanently settled from the Neolithic to the 4th century AD • built in the 13th century. • the first written mention about the castle dates back to 1245 • the castle was situated on Torysa trade road • castle burned down in 1678.
